Camp Kitchen Packing List
  Stove
  • Fuel & Fuel Bottle
  • Funnel
  • Windscreen
  • Stove Repair Kit

Pots & Pans
  • Aluminum or stainless steel pots with handles and lids (3, 4 and/or 10 quart size)
    • Pack two pots if you want to serve sides with your entrée or if you’d like to have hot water on hand for tea, coffee and other drinks.
    • Your largest pot should be able to hold one pint for each camper.
  • Nonstick aluminum frying pan
    • A frying pan should double as a lid for your cookpot and is essential for breads, stir-fry dishes and for frying fish.

Cooking Utensils
  • Knife
  • Large spoon
    • A long handle is great when cooking over a fire as you can stir things without burning your wrist or hand.
  • Spatula
    • Great for eggs, pan breads, fish and many other meals.
  • Whisk
    • Nice for breaking up lumps in instant gravies but a spoon can be substituted
  • Pot Gripper
    • A plier-like tool used in place of your pot’s handle. These are great for lifting heavy pots or pans.
  • Ladle
    • Nice for serving soups but a drinking cup can work just as well.
  • Small Cutting Board
  • Measuring Cup
    • If your drinking cup is marked with measurements, this can be used.

Camp Kitchen

Personal Eating Utensils
  • Cup
    • We recommend a plastic cup (it won’t burn your hands) with measuring lines for measuring out water
  • Plate/Bowl
    • A bowl is often preferred over a plate because the higher sides keep food warm longer.
  • Spoon, Fork
  • Water Bottle
    • We like Nalgene because it’s sturdy and includes measurement lines on the bottle. Regardless of which type of water bottle you choose, be sure to test it for leaks before your trip!

Misc. Supplies
  • 20 feet of nylon rope
    • Rope is essential and can be used as a clothesline, as extra help for a steep climb or to hoist your food up into a tree to keep it away from bears.

Water Purification
  • Water Filter/Purifier
  • Water-Purification Tablets

Water Containers

Packit Gourmet Meal Pouches
  • If you used a pot to cook your meal rather than mixing in the pouch, you can use the exterior pouch as a pitcher for mixing instant drinks so that you don’t have to contaminate your water bottle.
